2014 was a pretty crazy year, and 2015 is shaping up to be even busier! I am continuing the Friends series with the release of Something Real in probably February at this stage (the pre-order is up on iBooks already for March, but if I can I'll bring that date back). Then, there's another series I'm plotting at the moment, which I'd like to release under my real name. After all these books as Ariadne, I'd quite like to get a printed book with my own name on it. Details to be revealed soon, I'm just fine-tuning the blurb, but I'm really excited about it!
Anyway, I've had a few Facebook posts to say thank you to various people, but there are so many I thought I'd add it all together in this blog post.
A big thank you to Lauren and Ethan, Rowan and Kyle, and Andrew and Maddy who let me tell their stories this year. I loved you all so much. Each and ever character is special to me, and I never thought I'd end the year telling the redemption story of a man I'd written to be so awful. Funny how life goes! <3
Thank you to Lauren McKellar, for editing my stories and beating me when I needed it. You've helped me grow as a story teller and I look forward to working with you some more. :D
Thank you to Sarah Foster, from Sprinkles on Top Studios for making such beautiful covers. You constantly surprise me and impress me, and I'd buy everything you made if I could write that fast!
Thank you to Kaylee for reading for me, and to Deborah for helping me make the final decision on which way around to put together Taking Chances. For those who don't know, there were originally two versions, one in chronological order, and the other with flashbacks.
Thank you to The Hype PR who have helped so much the past three months with promo work, cover reveals, and the launch of Three Days. It's been a great weight off my mind to not have to worry so much about getting out there while I'm juggling publishing, working full-time and family!
And last, but most important, thank you to all the readers. To everyone who has read, reviewed, or contacted me about one of my books. I started writing again for me, but now it's equally for you. I have had amazing times in the past year, and some not so good times, but some of you have stayed with me the whole year and I appreciate you so very much. Indie authors depend on their readers, and you are the best!
So, here's to a safe and happy New Year. Roll on 2015!
Love to you all,
Taking Chances came from a suggestion by a reader, but I quickly fell in love with Lauren's story. She became as precious to me as Cassie. I've been re-reading the book and I wanted to share an excerpt that I love.
She turned back towards the house and smiled, her eyes glistening with tears. He went to her, taking her in his arms as she cried.
"It's all right, Lauren. Mark knew you loved him, I'm sure of that."
"It just hurts so much."
He lifted her chin with his finger to look her in the eyes. "I'm so sorry I never got to meet him. I know Mark was your whole world."
She nodded. "He was just always there. He wasn't just my brother. When my parents died, he became my father, too. When he died I felt that loss all over again."
"Well, now you have me. I know it's not the same as blood, but I'll never turn my back on you. You're my whole world."
Lauren buried her face in his chest, and he felt her shake as she cried. He kissed the top of her head, stroking her hair to comfort her.
"Let's go to bed. I think a snuggle and a good night's sleep is in order."
He felt her laughing now, her shoulders shaking as the giggles took hold.
"What is it?"
"I love how that's our thing. Having a snuggle."
"Me too, baby. Come on."
Ethan led her inside the house, pausing at the door while she went ahead. He looked up at the sky where Lauren had been looking.
She's safe. I'll take care of her from here.
He was sure the stars twinkled in response.
Check out what I received yesterday! They are gorgeous inside and out, and I am so over the moon with them. They'll be up for sale on Amazon and Createspace shortly!
Anyone who visits the site regularly will notice the changes that I've made. I've been itching to redesign the website for a while, and there are still some tweaks to be made, but I'm really happy with it. I wanted it to be simple but look good, and be easy to navigate.
I also loved the colour scheme for Taking Chances, so matched the colours with the book as much as I could.
Coming soon: New covers and relaunch for the Hot for the Boss series. More info in my next release (I'll post the teaser on here shortly), and I've got a few more things on the boil. This year is a bit more quiet than last year was on the release front due to other commitments, but I don't think my readers will be disappointed!
Here's a glimpse of the interior for the Taking Chances paperback - available soon. I'm just waiting on the proofs, but I think this is going to be gorgeous! The screenshots don't do it justice either.
Once I pressed publish on Taking Chances, I felt a bit lost. Saying goodbye to characters I loved so much was harder than I thought it would be, even though I had the privilege to write two books with them in.
The challenge I face with Taking Chances was turning characters I made small mentions of in Another Chance into something bigger.
It was a random thought near the end of Another Chance to put Ethan and Lauren together. We didn't know much about Ethan, and just a little more about Lauren, but it felt right to give them a happy ending.
Of course at that stage, I didn't know I'd end up writing their love story, and I had this idea about Lauren's struggles with alcohol in the back of my head that you just glimpse at first. Taking Chances gave me the opportunity to explore it.
Writing that book was an emotional rollercoaster for me. I experienced Mark's death from a different perspective (it was hard enough the first time, and I felt Lauren's pain as she was tormented by the thing she'd come to rely on.
Lauren became more special to me than I ever thought she would, and I am so grateful to have created her, and to have nurtured her. She deserved nothing but the best.
So, now I turn my sights on my project I started when Taking Chances was being edited. I'm aiming for an August release, but in the meantime I have some new covers to reveal for the Hot for the Boss series, and they are very steamy!
All this has distracted me of course from finishing off Loving the Rake, but I plan on that being done by the end of the year. I might even free up November to take part in NaNoWriMo again and write another one!
Please, if you read Taking Chances or any of my other books, I would really appreciate it if you leave a review. They help me and they help the books.
I also love hearing from readers, so email me, message me, come and find me on Facebook or Twitter. One day I'll even work out Google Plus! :D
Taking Chances is now live on iBooks (in some countries), Amazon, and on All Romance books.
I have updated links on the Taking Chances book page!
I did roll out an update to iBooks when the final proofreading and formatting was done, but that is still in progress. If you have received a copy of the Taking Chances pre-order, this is not the final book and the update will come through when it's processed.
To be honest, I feel quite sad today. Writing about Lauren, Ethan, Cassie, Patrick, and Sophie again was so enjoyable. I love them all and I am sorry to say goodbye. There is however, no more story left to tell.
Onto the next thing now, and when I solidify where I'm going with it, I'll update everybody!
I am going over final edits for Taking Chances and we are so close to it going live!
I just wanted to put a reminder out there that it can be pre-ordered from iBooks.
The link to pre-order is https://itunes.apple.com/nz/book/taking-chances/id816226507?mt=11&uo=4&at=10lvuW
Amazon, Kobo, B&N and All Romance will also go live on the 27th or shortly thereafter, depending on publishing times. I am going to do my very best to get this out as quickly as possible as I know there are a lot of you out there waiting for Lauren and Ethan's story.
I am so proud of this book. I thought that Another Chance was a big step for me, and Taking Chances is more than I ever thought it would be.
I've been asked if there will be any more books in the series, and I can confirm that there will just be the two. I've covered everything I want to, and Cassie and Patrick get a follow-up in Taking Chances too.
Next, I'm moving onto something different, and have been working on my other project while Taking Chances has been in editing. I don't know where it's going yet, but I'm enjoying it.
Anyway, I am off to bed as I have more edits to work through and I'm taking Mr 8 to see The Lego Movie!
I don't really have a lot to say except that I'm just working towards the release of Taking Chances and juggling a million other things right now!
Work is crazy busy, home is busy, and I have tried to take it easy this month as far as writing goes, not wanting to focus on anything else but the book launch.
Instead, I have written around 20,000 words of something and I have no idea where it's going. It's another story about someone who is a bit of a misfit finding love, and I'm just enjoying writing at the moment.
The giveaway is setup ready for the release blitz, and I am now waiting for the book to come back from the editor. Wish me luck!
Taking Chances is about as finished as I can get it and off to the editor shortly. This has been a real labour of love as Another Chance was, but is very different in structure and content.
While that's being edited, I'll be doing some more work on Loving The Rake as that's basically written, but also the new story I think I mentioned a couple of blog posts ago.
It's sexy, funny and sad, but has a lot of love in it. I started plotting and making notes a while ago and I'm already in love with the characters.
A year ago, I never would have imagined I would have come as far as I have. Every story I have written has a lot of meaning and love behind it, and all those characters are a part of me.
Now, I'm looking forward to the end of April and sharing Ethan and Lauren's story with you. They're both such special people who wake something up in each other when they're together. They deserve every happiness they can get. :)
I realised tonight that it has been two weeks since I last blogged, but I have been head down, bum up, working on the book since then.
It has been a great pleasure to see the story of Lauren and Ethan unfold. While writing Another Chance, I had them in the back of my head and Taking Chances is just as I thought it would be.
The beta readers who have read it love the story, and it's a little different to what I usually write so I can't wait to share it.
Next step is that it's off for editing and then getting ready for the release on the 27th of November. I am so excited about this. :)
While it's in editing I'll be writing the story that's been harassing me, trying to get out this past week. Now Lauren and Ethan are sorted, it's time to work on Kyle and Rowan's story!
