Taking Chances is about as finished as I can get it and off to the editor shortly. This has been a real labour of love as Another Chance was, but is very different in structure and content.
While that's being edited, I'll be doing some more work on Loving The Rake as that's basically written, but also the new story I think I mentioned a couple of blog posts ago. It's sexy, funny and sad, but has a lot of love in it. I started plotting and making notes a while ago and I'm already in love with the characters. A year ago, I never would have imagined I would have come as far as I have. Every story I have written has a lot of meaning and love behind it, and all those characters are a part of me. Now, I'm looking forward to the end of April and sharing Ethan and Lauren's story with you. They're both such special people who wake something up in each other when they're together. They deserve every happiness they can get. :)

Before I forget to post it here, Another Chance is currently on special at Amazon, B&N and iBooks for 99c.
It's featured on the iBooks Australia and New Zealand stores as part of a "home grown romance" promo! http://bit.ly/1ik1uhs I realised tonight that it has been two weeks since I last blogged, but I have been head down, bum up, working on the book since then.
It has been a great pleasure to see the story of Lauren and Ethan unfold. While writing Another Chance, I had them in the back of my head and Taking Chances is just as I thought it would be. The beta readers who have read it love the story, and it's a little different to what I usually write so I can't wait to share it. Next step is that it's off for editing and then getting ready for the release on the 27th of November. I am so excited about this. :) While it's in editing I'll be writing the story that's been harassing me, trying to get out this past week. Now Lauren and Ethan are sorted, it's time to work on Kyle and Rowan's story! I announced on my Facebook page the other day that Taking Chances had been delayed to the 27th of April.
This has been a hard decision to make, but I just didn't want to rush anything and this book has become so much more than I ever thought it would be. It's a lot bigger, so will take longer to be edited and I don't want this first time working with my new editor to be the last time! :D Lauren is amazing. She's worthy of all the extra attention I am lavishing on her. I hope you all agree! I'm a working mum. It's hard.
I work in a job that needs a high level of concentration, and by the end of the day all I want to do is crawl into bed and go to sleep. Instead, I cook dinner for my children, help the eldest with his homework, catch up with my friends and usually late at night when everyone goes to sleep, I write. I don't brush my hair in the morning, instead I scrape it into a ponytail, twist it into a bun and tie it up. No-one knows I don't brush it, I just deal with the knots later. Half the time I don't cook a full meal. We have chicken nuggets and toasted sandwiches sometimes. It doesn't matter. My kids and I go to sleep having been fed and that's the important thing. Last year I had a lot of stressful stuff going on in my life, and I buried myself in my writing for distraction as much as anything else. So this year, I want to make everything better in my life. The thing that was causing me stress has gone, and I'm looking forward to relaxing more, taking more time with my children and enjoying my writing even more. I don't have to crank out a new book every month, or ever two months. If I put out three new books this year, I'll be doing well. Having said that, I already have one written and almost ready to go in Loving the Rake, and I've written 10,000 words of The Accidental Sultan. So, I have a bit of a head start. I'll do NaNoWriMo again this year, but not plan a book launch at the same time. Watch this space. Already with things going better this year, I've had a whole heap of story ideas. I'm fighting one off at the moment while I finish off Taking Chances. Now all I need is more hours in the day. |
