My random thoughts today...

The following post contains spoilers for Hot For The Boss so I have added the jump in case you don't want it spoiled. :)

I've thought a lot this week about Charlaine Harris and the end of the Sookie Stackhouse books as the final book has just been released. Unfortunately the ending was leaked about a week before the book came out leading to her getting slammed.

People were outraged at the choice Sookie had made at the end of the book as to who to end up with. Readers of the series will know over the past 14 books she had dated several men and everyone had their favourite. I know I did, I liked her being with Quinn the Weretiger but they were only really together for about five minutes and he was out of the picture a long time ago so I doubted they'd end up together.

The backlash was huge. Even before the official launch there were posts on her Facebook page and with the book going live she was flooded with one star reviews on Amazon. It's starting to pick up now but the thing people didn't like the most? The handling of Sookie's relationship with Eric and who she eventually ended up with.

Now I am planning on reading it even though I know she doesn't end up with  my favourite, and I'm not going to spoil it for anyone who doesn't know. characters do have a habit of doing what they want in stories and I never understood that as much as when I went back to writing last year.

Over the years I'd read articles on character development and how characters can lead stories in new directions and create new twists all by themselves but never experienced it until I started writing again.

I had to change the giveaway a little, the app I was using was asking for permission to be granted by people submitting an entry and I don't know about anyone else but I hate that.

I have a few things on the go right now and hoping to bring out a new novella to fill the gap. This won't be like Hot For The Boss and will be complete in one book.

However, I've decided to give some more stuff away and as long as I've sorted the app out on Facebook I will have a promo running later today and going for about a week to give away some ebook copies of Hot For The Boss - The Complete Edition.

All I ask in return is for you to like my Facebook page if you haven't already and give me your email address just so I can get in touch with you to tell you if you've won and email you whatever format you want for the ebook prize.  Nothing too complicated!

I have also put in the terms and conditions that I won't use your email address for spam, believe me I work in IT and hate spam as much as anyone else.

Besides, the other thing I am in the process of setting up is a proper mailing list so that people can subscribe for any book release announcements. Even then I plan on keeping the emails to a minimum as the last thing I want is to annoy anyone with unwanted email!

It is gorgeous and I am so very happy with it!!
